Throw a western themed party this year and stray away from the usual themes! There are many options for a Country and Western or Wild West theme party. Here are a few ideas for you to get you started…

Invitations

Spice up your invitations! Be sure to make them fun and creative as you want to excite your guests for the big day. Simple ways to put a twist on the typical invitations include shaping them like a boot, cowboy hat, horseshoe, pistol gun, cactus hat or a wanted poster.

Decorations

Hang bigger versions of wanted posters on walls and doors. Place old cowboy hats on walls and doors. Change your usual light bulbs to yellow light bulbs. Get a couple of hay bales and cover with hessian bags for your guests to sit on. Set out cowboy hats and sheriff badges for guests on arrival.

Don’t forget to deck out the Bar area and if possible ask the venue bar and wait staff to wear cowboy outfits.

Costumes

If you’re throwing a western themed party, dressing up “Wild West” style is a must.  Think Bank robbers, Cowboys with boot cut jeans, large belt buckles, boots, and cowboy hats. Cowgirls with denim skirts, checked shirts, bandana, boots, and cowboy hats. Town sheriffs. Bandits, Western Royalty.

Country and Western  DJs – can play some Country and Western  music early on and move on to modern dance music after dinner.

Roving Cartoonist – a great conversation starter. Have your guest’s portraits done in the Western style.

Country and Western DJs – can play some Country and Western music early on and move on to modern dance music after dinner. A DJ is a more economical option than a band and also a great option if space is a concern.
