Ricky de Medeiros solo guitar performance incorporates Spanish, Latin and Brazilian music.  Ricky creates  unique original music and  beautiful  renditions of Classics from these genres by artists such as Paco de Lucia, Buena Vista Social Club and Tom Jobim.

Ricky’s  live performance includes solo guitar, the use of the loop pedal and a percussion pad, creating a full sound. Ricky can also use backing tracks, if required and is versatile and able to adapt for a concert, festival or background music situation.

About Ricky de Medeiros

Ricky developed his skills by learning from Brazilian Classical guitar masters. Heavily influenced by the Bossa-Nova and M.P.B rhythms and sophisticated harmony Ricky studied music theory and picked up the saxophone as a teenager. Ricky then moved to the guitar and piano, and quite quickly, he got some live performance experiences playing guitar and keyboards with local bands.

Ricky is a prolific musician, constantly honing his skills. In Auckland, he has been performing multiple times a week at residencies and in high profile events. Ricky also performs for weddings, corporate and private events.  Currently, he has a few studio recording projects underway, including his own instrumental album. Ricky also teaches music privately and in a few schools across the city.

Available as a soloist, duo with another guitarist or percussionist, trio with another guitarist and percussionist or a 5 piece Latin band.
